  1. For crushing and grinding dried spices this is perfect. Unlike power grinders that reduce cloves, peppercorns, all spice berries, etc. to powder this intelligently designed tool allows complete control over the resultant spice mixture. And, unlike the traditional mortar and pestle you’re not constantly fighting to keep the ingredients in the “bowl” and not all over your counter/floor. However, it doesn’t work as well as a traditional mortar for mashing a Pistou or other paste type condiments. So if you’re looking for a spice grinder, this is a very good one, but falls short at double duty. I wish they made a larger version (maybe 6 inches in diameter) supplied with both the mated crushing tool (lid) and a traditional pestle.

  2. This grinder was a fantastic gift choice. The stone is of excellent quality and is very pleasing. The design is the key here: it matches the surface sizes of the mortar and the pestle to greatly increase the contact area where all the work is done. This results in faster, smoother grinding with better results. What an excellent product. We are delighted with it.

  3. This is an excellent spice grinder with a sturdy, well fitted pestle. We got it for varied kitchen spices such as dried oregano and basil, fennel seeds, small flakes of cinnamon bark. It looks nice sitting out on the counter and is heavy enough so that if the cat pushes it onto the floor he really meant to do it.It is perfect for its purpose but it is too tightly fitted and too small for grinding cornmeal, wheat flour and coffee. It will handle a couple of cardamom seeds but obviously won’t grind a pound of them. All of these things need a bigger mortar and pestle, dedicated grinder or flour mill. I suppose one could grind flour with it but that would be like cutting their lawn with scissors; it will take a long time. Here is a better product for making flour: Nutrimill Home Grain Mill and one to make coffee: Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)This spice grinder has a nice rough internal finish and something I really like: the machining marks on the mortar part are not entirely removed. This makes it better for grinding, though I presume marks will wear away in time since marble is a soft stone.Any varieties of stone objects sold as “marble” may be metamorphed limestone i.e. real marble, or microcrystalline un-metamorphed limestone. The two have geological difference but in a spice grinder the difference matters very little. I have no idea if this tool is marble or microcrystalline limestone, but it looks more like marble. And regardless of which one it actually is, if you soak it in vinegar, lemon juice or other acid you’ll dissolve it just like the old marble statues in Italy are dissolving away under the effects of acid rain.As an obsessive/compulsive note about color, ours had more grey and less white than the photo. I find the color more pleasing than the one pictured. The color should not be a precipitant for emotional problems in anyone who is aware that “white marble” normally has grey streaks and is sometimes all grey. White marble is “white” in the sense that it is “not pink” and “not black”, if you follow that logic. If one is looking for pure milk white they should probably search for “alabaster” instead of “white marble”, remembering that “alabaster” can refer to a marble, a limestone, sometimes an onyx, seldom a chalk but occasionally a dolomite.

  4. This is good for making bigger pieces ( big piece of garlic, almonds, nuts, bread crums) – into smaller or fine size. If you were planning to grind or pulverize others such as mustard grains, or small pieces, then maybe a regular mortar and pestle will target those little pieces better. I am making home made soaps and needed very little / fine powder from all the spices, but didn’t work perfect for all of them. Still very happy. And if you buy this 1st, you can just find a pestle only, no need to pay for a whole new set.

  5. I use this product for grinding up meds and take the meds through feeding tube outstanding tool for medical use.

  6. For crushing and grinding dried flavors this is best. Unlike energy mills that reduce cloves, peppercorns, all spice berries, and so on to powder this intelligently created tool enables catbird seat over the resultant spice combination. And, unlike the traditional mortar and powder you’re not frequently fighting to keep the components in the “bowl” and not all over your counter/floor. Nevertheless, it doesn’t function along with a traditional mortar for mashing a Pistou or other insert kind spices. So if you’re seeking a flavor grinder, this is a great one, however falls short at double responsibility. I want they made a larger variation (maybe 6 inches in diameter) provided with both the mated crushing tool (lid) and a conventional pestle.

  7. CHRISTOPHER ROBINSON

This grinder was a wonderful present option. The rock is of excellent high quality and is very feeling free to. The style is the secret right here: it matches the surface area sizes of the mortar and the pestle to significantly increase the call area where all the job is done. This results in quicker, smoother grinding with much better results. What an excellent item. We are pleased with it.

  8. This is an excellent spice mill with a tough, well fitted pestle. We got it for varied kitchen flavors such as dried out oregano and basil, fennel seeds, small flakes of cinnamon bark. It looks good remaining on the counter and weighes sufficient to make sure that if the pet cat pushes it into the flooring he actually suggested to do it. It is best for its purpose yet it is also firmly matched and too small for grinding cornmeal, wheat or grain flour and coffee. It will take care of a number of cardamom seeds however clearly won’t grind a pound of them. All these points require a larger mortar and pestle, committed grinder or flour mill. I designed one can grind flour with it but that would resemble cutting their grass with scissors; it will take a long time. Below is a much better item for making flour: Nutrimill Residence Grain Mill and one to make coffee: Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Work Automatic Burr Mill (CCM-16PC1)This flavor mill has a nice rugged interior finish and something I actually like: the machining marks on the mortar part are not completely gotten rid of. This makes it much better for grinding, though I presume marks will deteriorate in time considering that marble is a soft stone. Any kind of assortments of rock things sold as “marble” may be metamorphed limestone i.e. real marble, or microcrystalline un-metamorphed sedimentary rock. The two have geological difference however in a spice grinder the distinction matters hardly any. I have no idea if this tool is marble or microcrystalline sedimentary rock, but it looks more like marble. And despite which one it really is, if you soak it in vinegar, lemon juice or various other acid you’ll dissolve it just like the aged marble statuaries in Italy are liquefying away under the impacts of acid rain. As an obsessive/compulsive note concerning shade, ours had more gray and much less white than the picture. I discover the color much more satisfying compared to the one imagined. The shade needs to not be a precipitant for psychological troubles in anyone who knows that “white marble” normally has grey touches and is occasionally all grey. White marble is “white” in the feeling that it is “not pink” and “not black”, if you comply with that logic. If one is seeking pure milk white they ought to most likely look for “alabaster” as opposed to “white marble”, keeping in mind that “alabaster” could describe a marble, a limestone, sometimes an onyx, seldom a chalk however periodically a dolomite.

  9. This benefits making bigger pieces (big piece of garlic, almonds, nuts, bread crums) – in to smaller sized or great size. If you were intending to grind or grate others such as mustard grains, or small pieces, then possibly a regular mortar and pestle will target those little pieces much better. I am making home made soaps and required very little / fine powder from all the flavors, yet didn’t turn out excellent for all them. Still quite happy. And if you buy this 1st, you could just locate a pestle just, no have to pay for a whole brand-new collection.

  10. I use this product for grinding up meds and take the meds via feeding tube superior tool for clinical usage.

  11. extremely great, conventional layout for flavors. i made use of to make use of an usual mortal and pestal, leaving littles flying across the table, however this cool and charming utensil is essentially engineered to produce excellent outcomes. take into consideration the form of the pestal and the breeding with the bowl: it’s close and promotes grinding and also striking without the mess of points flying about. that time discover the form of the pestal, great for gripping. oh, yes and it’s a whole lot prettier compared to those white ceramic bowls.

  12. I have among these mushroom grinders for things that need a powdered work like mustard seed or finely smashed raw cacao grains and so forth. It functions terrific. Fits in the hand of my hand (it’s little) and is easy and quick to shatter something to littles. It’s also steady on the kitchen counter. I also have a typical mortar and pestle for other kinds of flavors and meals. The little mushroom powder fits very well inside the base so do not expect to use it quite like you might a much more traditional mortar and pestle.

  13. My papa would make use of a cup and bowl to separate his medication at nighttime and I believed that was not a good idea. So I found this and now he enjoys and safe. It is wonderful for medicine given that there is no voids. Highly suggest it.

  14. This mill functions excellent for garlic and anchovies. Took me a while to get utilized to it. It does not come with any type of instructions for those of us that are ‘uninformed’ so at first I tried to use it as it receives the photo, with the bigger, round end inserted in the bowl. I assumed that was the end to make use of as the pestle for grinding the components. Nonetheless, It actually functions much better making use of the smaller sized end as the pestle while holding it by the larger, round end. At least it functions much good that way for me when grinding garlic and anchovies in to an insert for Caesar’s Tossed salad Dressing. I likewise grind capers and crude ground mustard for the recipe and this gets the job done very nicely. Rather than placing large quantities in each time, it works a great deal quicker if you do 2 or 3 smaller amounts. Buzzes throughout the recipe twice as fast as attempting to do everything simultaneously in huge amounts. It might be because of the strength of my hands (which isn’t really so great and makes them harm if I need to press as well challenging for too lengthy) so others with larger or more powerful hands could be able to grind the bigger amounts effortlessly. It likewise does the anchovies much quicker if you cubes them merely a little before grinding. I didn’t desire another significant thing jumbling up my kitchen space understanding I ‘d probably just stow it away and ignore it the majority of the moment so I tried this smaller size and actually like it. This doesn’t take up a great deal of counter area and it’s very good looking too so I leave it out where it’s constantly handy and as a result gets made use of a lot because I don’t want to quit and dig via cabinets for it! It additionally cleans up rapidly and doesn’t maintain any sort of stenches!

  15. a little tough to deal with initially. need to be broken in prior to it will certainly crack down anything into an useful form. i recomend utilizing a little olive oil but once its damaged in it works surprisingly well. don’t forget … its a ball and outlet kind so it does not succeed with big quantities. a spice mill is a fantastic means to pre process anything for it.

  16. I acquired this to grind small herbal tablets that my vet had actually prescribed for my aged basic poodle. It works effectively. This makes the job of providing the medicines extremely simple.

  17. LAWRENCE WILLIAMS

Achieved joint inflammations or other healthy issues that make grasping challenging? This marble mill ended up being the perfect answer for me. I did not buy the mill to use in the home kitchen, however rather to squash large tablets. A few of my tablets are difficult for me to take whole. For those pills that the pharmacist states could be ground, this item is flawless; the joint inflammation in my hands is not worsened by the effort. I can’t recommend exactly how well this grinder works for herbs, and so on, however it’s doing just exactly what I had wished it would certainly provide for me– crush those hard-to-swallow medicines!

  18. I adore it. It squashes everything i have to be CRUSHED !!! Easy to take care of and make use of. Very smooth at the bottom. Holds quickly.

  19. I mainly use it to squash medicine tablet computers. This makes the process so much less complicated. Say goodbye utilizing the rear of a spoon and having it fly across the kitchen area. It is also a great dimension, not as well huge. Wonderful high quality, enjoy the layout.

  20. We purchased this to grind children’s vitamins for our young child. It sits out on the counter regularly, yet I do not mind since it is small and eye-catching. Likewise, the pestle suits flawlessly in the mortar. Wonderful style! It is nice and strong. We ‘d certainly recommend to others.

  21. Bought this mill to crush and grind pills for my dog who has arthritis. It works completely after just a couple of seconds of grinding the pills are baby powder great. Combined with her meals, my pet never knows that they are there!

  22. Excellent pestle and mortar … I utilize it for grinding dry pet cat food to put into my cat’s tinned food. By having the grinding component completely fit the bowl it stops challenging particles you are attempting to grind from bulging. The size it perfect. It doesn’t take up a great deal of counter area and shops easily. It matches my needs flawlessly.

  23. Was so sick of trying to bop my supplement with a wooden club … and supplement items on the counter and the floor. now I get the whole pill crushed and into the applesauce. This makes my life much easier.

  24. I do appreciate this one, however I use the Acacia Wood one more. I really feel uneasy with the size perhaps. Anyway, I have had good success with it and it gets the job done I ask of it, so it’s even more my taste in the object than it’s performance. It is beautiful job, does the job and is simple to take care of. Arrived in great time and in superb condition.
