Product Description
Rocker by Joseph Joseph
Garlic Crusher
By using downward pressure and a ‘rocking’ motion, this stylish tool breaks up garlic cloves quickly and easily, forcing the pieces up through the mesh of holes in its base.
The crushed pieces are then held in the curved design, allowing them to be spooned or scraped conveniently into a pan or bowl.
Additional cloves can also be crushed at this stage before emptying.
Rocker is easy to clean under running water but is also dishwasher safe.
As it is made from brushed, 18/8 stainless steel, the unit can be rinsed under running water, after use, and used to gently rub the hands and fingers to reduce any garlic odor (stainless steel is thought to remove the strong odors left from handling garlic).
Twin brothers Richard and Antony Joseph founded Joseph Joseph in 2003, combining their respective experience in product design and business – Antony studied design at Central St Martins whilst Richard studied business at Cambridge University.
Specialising in contemporary kitchenware, Joseph Joseph is now internationally recognised for producing some of the most stylish and technically innovative products available, and has become one of the fastest growing companies in the worldwide homewares market.
Their unique ability to match form and function has earned them global recognition for their multi-award-winning designs.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016The rubber (silicone? not sure) on the handle finally disintegrated on my old, beloved Calphalon press. I cook often enough with garlic that a garlic press is worth the investment for me. (Yes, I know I can chop it, but when you're using 5+ cloves in a recipe, that gets annoying.)
This one seemed interesting and reasonably priced. I liked the idea of a press without all the hard-to-clean moving parts and crannies. This one has been a pleasant surprise. It's really sturdy and easy to use and clean. I've even been able to use it to press some ginger, something I had tried and failed to do with my old press.
My one complaint is that I would really prefer it if the holes were a little smaller, maybe up to a millimeter less in diameter. (I would have made this a 4 1/2 star review, but Amazon only allows whole stars.) Even still, unless something crazy happens, I expect this will be the last garlic press I buy for my entire life. It's great, and I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2015I purchased the PURPLE rocker. Love, love, love the concept. Works great. However, it lasted less than a year before it cracked. Initially it was a split down one side, but within two more uses it was cracked and useless. I would guess the pressure you have to put on the rocker while crushing the garlic was too much for the plastic.
I am purchasing the stainless steel press, now, in hopes that a solid appliance will be less likely to break. I liked the ease of use of my press, and it cleaned up great. If it had not broken, I would have given the press 4+ stars, but in having to re-purchase so shortly after, my rating is lower.
My advice - go directly for the stainless steel version. Disclaimer: I say this while waiting for my stainless steel version to arrive. If it breaks before a year's time, I'll update my review.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2014I really enjoy using this garlic crusher. It crushes the garlic in to nice little pieces and crushes it all. It is not too difficult to keep clean, the pieces in the little holes just fall out with a little help. It's bigger than I thought it would be about seven inches across. I have used it several times to make crushed garlic for my pizzas. Only four or five garlic segments will create a lot of crushed garlic. Since it is stainless steel I am supposing that it will last a long time without getting broken. It is the simplest kitchen device I have for crushing garlic. The pieces are nice and uniform throughout. It doesn't make a mess like a garlic press mess. I just have to get a bite on the garlic or the garlic will squirt out from under the crusher, either that or I have to come straight down on the garlic to keep the garlic from squirting out from under the crusher. It is a very modern device I think. I have no complaints on this tool.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2013This is a solid, good quality product. It is easy to use and it seems as though it uses all of the garlic, as opposed to a press which leaves a little bit behind. It is also easier to clean than a press, both because the holes are slightly larger and also because there aren't any nooks and crannies for pieces to hide in. I have also put it in the dishwasher and it comes out fine.
I had heard that stainless steel can be used to clean garlic smell off your hands, and thought that would be a nice perk to this product, but rubbing my wet hands over it didn't really do anything to abate the garlic smell.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2012This garlic press is genius! First of all, the design looks so modern and very rock and roll. Second, the ease of use is what really won me over. Lastly, after you have stylishly smashed and pressed your garlic, when you wash the press in warm soapy water the stainless steel completely rids your hands of any garlic smell whatsoever! Bonus!
The only downside I have found is you do have to peel your garlic first. Bummer.
And if your recipe calls for finely crushed garlic this is not your tool. No biggie for me, I just run a knife through the chunks if finer pieces are needed.
Other reviewers have mentioned that a lot of garlic sticks to the honeycomb-like holes. After you press your garlic just scoop both sides of the press with a spoon and almost all of the pieces pop right out. Another complaint was that the clove of garlic flies out from under the press. I imagine it would if you slammed the press down onto the garlic. You only need to gently press down while rocking back and forth. The rocking motion is the key here, that's what gets the job done. Someone else mentioned that it was difficult to clean, again use your hands and warm soapy water and any remaining garlic pieces easily come out.
I found my previous traditional garlic press was a beast to get clean which is why I wanted something different and better. While not perfect, this one comes very close and is actually fun to use.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2015I've been using a garlic press of some kind for 30 years. I've tried a lot of different brands and seemingly different kinds but they're all very similar and not really very good so I stopped using them and just mince it with a clever now. I was looking for a garlic press that's easy to clean to replace one I broke some time ago when I stumbled across this one, I thought what a simple and ingenious design! One of those where you think, why didn't someone do this sooner or why didn't I come up with this!
This thing is awesome and you don't even need to peel the cloves first! Clean up is a snap, just hold it under running water and you're done. I'm so impressed with this thing that I plan to get a few more for Christmas gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Teuer aber ein tolles Gerät

5.0 out of 5 stars Un objet pratique et très design

4.0 out of 5 stars Preis - Leistung okay
