This is a grinding game changer. This like a power tool! The wsg is the 3 cup with the 20,000 rpm 1 HP motor. It can grind. It is kind of the difference between a blendtech blender that can grind a ski and a 30$ blender that cant grind anything, lol. as the saying goes you get what you pay for. This spice grinder has the highest rpms, hp and cup size.I use to use an old design cusinart before the cups bladed got way to dull after decades of use. (don't bother with the new design of that it is horrible you can see that review) i tried several others before I dared to try the waring and they all were terrible.I am so glad I got this and sorry it took me so long to do it. I was apprehensive because of some of the reviews. In addition, to the fact that I emailed waring with a couple of questions and never even got a reply. even though I knew with the greater hp and rpms it should make a substantial difference.I bought this do to do one thing grind dried fruit that I use for a recipe. it is not raisins that i think would be too moist and get way to sticky. It does the job better than the old model cuisinart I was using before. Plus, the large 3 cup size saves lot of time. I only have to grind what I need once instead of 2 batches. I found for what I am grinding that it grinds over 5 ounces more completely. i maximum I have ground is 9 ounces and that was pretty much near the top of the bowl and it ground it better then when i had under five ounces. I use the pulse button since the longer you continually grind it generates heat to your grind. I have not used any liquids in the grinder but this model is capable of doing that. The fill line for liquids is about half way.As to ease of use there are some tricks or what you should know. due to the large size it is harder to wrap your hands around if they are on the small size. For reference, I wear an xl womens glove. I have long thin fingers so I do not have any issues with that. However, I find that if I keep the grinder on a silicone mat it makes it easier to keep the base secure when turning the locking lid. I keep my hand on top of the locking lid when using it not around the sides. you could also use a silicone jar opener on top the locking lid if you need to get a better grip. There is a sort of spring mechanism in the grinder base when using the locking lid. To get the lid on, when you twist it and get to the locking portion I push down, which makes it much easier. To get it off, I push down again to release and twist the locking lid off. Also, the only time the bowl got stuck was when i did not properly seat it in place before i started grinding so the machine ended up doing it for me and I think it did that. I have never had that issue again after I realized what i did incorrectly. I did get it to unbind.The grinder should come with two clear locking lids because they give you two bowls! You cannot possibly use the second bowl unless you are going to be grinding the same exact item! you can't grind anise and then use the different bowl and grind fennel or anything else and use the same locking lid. the residue from the first item grind would get mixed in with the second item grind from the residue left on the lid. you cant wash it and use it right after since it would need time to dry thoroughly due to the rubber seal and indented grove. For this reason, I bought another locking lid. Yes, from amazon, lol they sell more than everything. I like to be prepared and be able to utilize the second bowl if need be. As to all the reviews about dropping it and waring not replacing it for free well why would they! when you buy a set of dishes or glasses and you break one you dont get another one for free! The locking lid is clear hard plastic and it is that way so you can see the consistency of what you are grinding. i am pretty accident prone. Thus, I keep my lid on a silicone pot holder in back of the grinder towards the back of the counter so it has a chance of staying on the counter, lol.In case you havent realized, I love this grinder! I use it 2 to 4 days in a row for about 6 to 7 grinds a day every week and a half to two weeks. This grinder is one of my favorite kitchen tools.
