Works Well

I needed a shaker for the stove area and this met all of my needs. It's smaller than commercial size means it fits in the cabinet easily or you could leave it out as it is attractive. The three different hole sizes are great! The large I use for adding salt to pasta water and the others for adding to recipes and completed food

The mechanical parts operate smoothly with just enough drag or resistance. The rotating cap may have a little too much gap above the disbursing holes. The reason for the 4star rating is because I purchased this tiny shaker mainly for popcorn salt which is very fine in nature. The ability to seal off is poor with very fine ingredients. You can use this with the trap door completely closed. Some come out when it is inverted and more comes out when it is uprighted. It's just a little messy....but usable as is.

    The PERFECT rock salt shaker!!

    This is great for powdery spices and toppings, such cinnamon, paprika, parmesan cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa, or grains and seeds, such as cornmeal and poppy seed. Sugar and salt, not so much, because it wold dump granules out onto food, rather than sprinkle it.

    It is not one of those big bench shakers that you use to sprinkle flour on your bread board before kneading. It fits into my hand nicely. It and holds most of a can of smoked paprika. Those are typically aluminum.

    I love that you can move the cap cover around to select from three hole sizes. Can't imagine why one would want shaker holes so big for salt. It would dispense far too much to be palatable. Two of the hole sizes might handle rock salt. Buyers who saw rust, may have exposed the canister to corrosive substances and damp climate conditions. Although I live within a mile of the ocean, I haven't seen rust, but I haven't put anything corrosive in it, such as salt. The other thing to remember is that unless a product is 18/10 or 18/8 stainless steel, also called 304 stainless steel, it will likely rust, given the right conditions. Stainless steel is generally more expensive than this product.

    I bought this because I wanted to pour sugar into my tea like there was no tomorrow without having to waste multiple spoons.
    I don't know about you but I hate making a spoon wet and then sticking it back into the sugar bowl. No.
    I had a roommate who did this and somehow she spilled sugar all over the counter consistently, even after I cleaned it and put down paper towel... it's a long, bitter story.
    Anyway, I also like having multiple cups of tea with sugar. So, I decided to get this.
    Fill it with sugar, find the biggest holes to pour it out of, and pour.

    It's a bit small for me, but that's because I like lots of sugar. I also drink my tea out of a huge ceramic beer mug. For efficiency, you see.
    This way I only need to use one spoon (a long one) to stir the sugar. Less dishes, more sugar. Aw yeah.

    Love the different sizes of holes you can set it to. Its a really nice size. I got it for my pepper since we use it alot. The only thing I might have liked better is if the lid screwed on rather than just popped on. Hopefully it doesn't come off unexpectedly which is why I tossed my last one. Too much pepper is not cool.
