I LOVE these! They are wonderful for so many reasons. First, they are magnetic and may be stored on the included little tray or on your refrigerator or any other metal surface that you have. The tins are so great to use too, as they do not need to be opened to use the contents. You simply have to turn the lid to line up with the opening in the container and voila! you may shake the spice like a salt shaker or with the other opening you can pour contents to be measured. Simply turn the top again to seal your spices up tight. I have ordered three of these so far and may well be buying more. They are Wonderful!
The spice containers work well for keeping them out of the way. I have them on the fridge instead of the racks, because the racks don't really work well for hanging on the wall.
I don't know why it is that Amazon continues to allows fake knockoffs or junk products to be sold here. It's a waste of customer's time and a waste of Amazon's time and money. And when is Amazon going to take off those fake reviews falsely boosting this product's performance when it really is just a piece of junk?
Let's explain.
Please compare this product against: "Stainless Steel Magnetic Containers Multipurpose Spice Tin Rack Perfect Kitchen Storage 6 Piece Set" also sold on Amazon here. Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013VX86OY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
It's a few dollars more than this product. This 6-piece P.O.S. is made of cheap metal, the metal plate still had blue covering of manufacturing film on it. It is light weight, thin, scratched up, and ugly. The tins are thin and the magnets extremely weak. The lid is made of plastic and scratchy already upon arrival. The metal stand that holds up everything is made of thin wire. Comparing to the other product: The stand is about twice the gauge as this one. The materials used were of higher quality. The magnets actually were strong enough to hold the tins up.
I ordered the two products at the same time out of curiousity and I got them both at the same time so I was able to do a side-by-side comparison. WOW what a difference!
Now not to say the other product is 5-stars (it had it's own problems), this review is a comparison of this product against a competitor's product and this one was found to be a fake knockoff. It is completely not worth your time and money. Trust me. You'll be sorry if you buy it. I can't believe people are giving anything above 3 or 4 stars.
I hand washed them and the clear plastic came out of two of them. One held water in between the seal. Out of the three I was able to put spices in, one fell off and bent because the glue came loose from the magnet. So far, I'm not impressed with the quality. Not easy to turn and if you're not super careful they leak.
These were purchased for our camping kit. The clear lids make seeing contents easy and the lids use friction to close. They're fine. The magnets are NOT as strong as I hoped but the metal panel helps keep them grouped. The lids have little hole in the sides you can rotate to to sprinkle seasonings onto food, when grilling for instance.
We keep them in a top shelf of a tool box cookbox kit so they won't bounce around too much and open, but it is a concern.
The canisters are a durable metal with plastic lids so they are not heavy. You can sprinkle or pour out the spice without removing the lids. The containers stick to the refrigerator and other metals so I can position them where I need them most. The tray has depressions that fit the canisters. The tray can be popped up at an angle if you want them on the counter. The sides of the tray do seem a bit sharp, so be cautious.
I purchased this with the intention of using them along my essential oil collection. I used them to put epsom salt in and a few drops of oil so those could be used as "sniffers". They worked amazing for that. Essential oils cannot be used in anything plastic - it has to be glass or stainless steel. I started with mason jars, but prefer these over them because if these are accidentally dropped, they won't break!
This is an awesome kit! The magnets are really sturdy so the spices don't fall whatsoever. I wish they had other colors but regardless it does not take away from the quality of this product. It made me want to go out and buy other spices just to be able to fill out all of the jars.
