    This black marble mortar and pestle is very attractive. The picture makes it look solid black, but it has some gray grain that looks very nice. The end of the pestle is rough for good grinding. I use it for supplements and it works very well. It is quite solid and heavy with a solid base.

It was sold at a very fair and competitive price. It is very attractive, decorative even, and compliments our granite kitchen countertop. We needed this implement to convert tableted veterinary medicine into a powder form so we could then mix the powder with food and give our geriatric cat her maintenance prescriptions; it works perfectly for this.

    i'm keeping the item because it is too heavy to ship back and there weren't any other options then return the item for a refund. the bowl has a very long crack running from the outside to the inside in the marble. It doesn't feel cracked, but the marble is. it appears to be finished over to avoid being able to feel the crack. I would not order from this vendor again. very disappointed.
