This is a fantastic piece. I was a little anxious about it, but am pleased with the purchase. It's my only M&P, and is a good size for blending seasonings for meals, pills that needs to be powdered and hidden in food, etc.

It is granite. That means the interior is a little rough, which helps with grinding stuff. Hmm, that's what it's made for! Cool.
That also means the bottom is a little rough. You'll either want to hold this in your hands while you use it (quite heavy), or put a good mat under it if you are using it on a surface you don't want scratched.

I would have liked the pestle to be a little longer, but it works fine. My wife thinks it's pretty enough to sit on the mantle in the kitchen.
