Product Description

Native to the country of Trinidad and Tobago in the Southern Caribbean, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper is one of the world's hottest peppers. On February 13, 2013, the New Mexico Chile Pepper Institute named the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper the world's hottest pepper with an average Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of more than 1.2 million on the Scoville Scale. Since then other peppers have taken over the top spot for the world's hottest pepper such as Carolina Reaper and Pepper X. The Scoville Scale is a measure of the pungency (heat level) of chili peppers.

What does it feel like?

The heat level of the pepper seems somewhat mild at first but then it builds until it is unbearable and crosses the 1.2 million Scoville Heat Unit threshold. Some individual fruits are known to top out at a whopping 2 million SHU causing intense pain and a significant endorphin rush.
