I'm using this crusher for ginger and garlic. It does a really nice job of crushing both and the clean up is a quick wash. It's a nice improvement over our standard garlic mincers. It's a well made tool with some weight to it.
Saw this item in a store in Amsterdam and wanted to add it to my ever expanding collection of the best garlic crushers. Since it is solid stainless steel it is heavy so I have largely abandoned using it in favor of my lighter double walled stainless steel mushroom shaped garlic crusher produced by an unknown manufacturer.
You need to use a fork to get all the pieces out of the ridges. The handles aren't small enough for your fingers to fit under or to use like a standard rollingpin. You have to roll the device using the flat of your palm or only your fingertips on the handles. It does wash easily in the dishwasher, and you can use it under running water as that piece of stainless steel needed to remove garlic smell from your hands. It's not worth the price unless you want to impress your foodie friends with gadgets that aren't quite perfect.
perfect, just put your garlic on plate , cut in half if too big, crush, clean the crusher with a piece of salad, parsley...if you do not want to loose the precious juice, rinse the crusher under running water
It’s a good item. I recommend it. It’s great for smashing the garlic given its weight, which you could also achieve with a hammer but would have a garlic smelling hammer. I don’t use the ridge part because it’s hard and messy. I find that just smashing the garlic is good enough for cooking. The tool is also easy to clean. Considering there is no perfect garlic tool that will cut the garlic, not make a mess and be easy to clean, this one works great for me.
