Honest, Detailed Review
It arrived Friday, three days ahead of schedule. I was so happy. I opened it up, and it did not look like it does in the picture. For one, it is smaller than it appears to be in the picture. Also, except the the bowl on top, it's cheap cast iron with a rough feel to it. Looks mean nothing to me, only functionality. Well, I assembled it, but I could tell right away there would be a problem with the bowl, and there was. It did not create tight seal, and most anything (half as thick as an average corn kernel) could fit in the gap between the bowl and the base, causing things to leak out. Moreover, the bowl does not fit tightly and wants to pop off - and it's hard enough just to get it on. I simply put it to the side, undaunted. And ground small amounts at a time, while keeping my hand over the holding base to prevent spilling, and to steady the machine (it's just a cut, anyway, simply smaller). Yes, i already had it mounted to the table, and it did not like the set up. It rocks, so you have to keep it steady to prevent rolling grains on the floor. This did not diminish my possitivity much, at all. So, the instructions said, run it through about 3 times, and so said some reviews. I did. I ran through a single pound of dried Lima beans, which are much easier to grind than corn. If this thing can grind corn, it will have no problem with the beans. Well, it did. It took three hard rounds. Yes, I adjusted, carefully, the tightness. That was not the problem. It would grind well for a bit, then choke on the beans. I cannot imagine anyone ever putting corn in there! Lima beans are easy enough to crush. I could have ground them by hand with a meat hammer inside of a bag.I ran them through 4 times. They got finer yes, until the forth time, when they were the same as the third. If you're looking for flower of any kind, from any grain on God's green earth, look for a different tool, this one will never do it. If you want loosely ground cereal, this thing is a brute to clean, and even requires unscrewing the first plate and cleaning the whole thing with a tooth brush, and even then, it's still not completely clean in the tinniest of nooks.I don't mind labor, I don't mind ugly, I don't mind cleaning, I don't mind the bowl not working, and I don't mind running the grains through over and over again. I mind that it never performed a fourth as well as stated. I mind the more than $100 price for something I would not keep for free! I mind that there were METAL SHAVINGS in my (it isn't even fine enough to be called meal...). I mind that Lima bean powder and metal powder leaked out the back onto me and the floor.I'm returning it. I wouldn't recommend this to anybody for anything. It isn't sanitary, it isn't safe, it doesn't do its job, it's impossible to clean. There is no positive of any kind, and I am a VERY nice person. If I don't have Butter Muslin, I'll use a pillow case. It this can't meet m standards, it shouldn't meat just about anybody's. You're better off with a stone mortar and pestle or spending the money to get "The Wonder Mill," which I've not tried. PLEASE, let me know if you have any other recommended grain grinders.I hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY! VERY STURDY!!!
Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021
I just tried this gadget and I am very satisfied. It fook me a minute to put together since it came with no instructions. First time I used I left about 1/8" opening between the grinders, and don't let it run empty because the gears will grind. Also, you have TWO wing nuts to keep the grinders even. I just grinned some bird feed with whole corn kernels. Happy with purchase. it's Cast Iron Nickel Plated.
